Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to play the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball will not gain a point, while the opposite player will.

Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society and at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who can hold a racket, including wheelchair users. The modern game of tennis originated in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th century as "lawn tennis". It had close connections both to various field ("lawn") games such as croquet and bowls as well as to the older racket sport of real tennis. During most of the 19th-century in fact, the term "tennis" referred to real tennis, not lawn tennis: for example, in Disraeli's novel Sybil (1845), Lord Eugene De Vere announces that he will "go down to Hampton Court and play tennis."

Tennis (paper game)

Tennis is an (abstract) strategic pencil and paper game for two players.

The game field consists of 4 fields and a centre line. These are called (-2,-1,0,1,2), with negative numbers belonging to player 1, positive to player 2. At start, the ball is at the centre line (0).

Both players start with the same initial number (e.g. 50 points). In each draw, both players choose a number, and the ball is moved towards the player with the smallest number. The number that was chosen reduces the points for the next draws.

The aim of the game is to move the ball beyond the second field of the opponent.

Mathematical description

For a simple description, we include the numbers -3 and 3 to denote the ball being beyond the second field. This results in a playfield as (-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3).

The draw of player i at time t will be denoted as , the ball is at time t in .

Sayaka Kanda

Sayaka Kanda (神田 沙也加, Kanda Sayaka, born October 1, 1986) is a Japanese actress and singer. She is the only child of pop singer Seiko Matsuda and actor Masaki Kanda. Her paternal grandmother is former actress Teruko Asahi.

Career

Kanda was born in Setagaya, Tokyo. In 1999, while a student at a Japanese school in Los Angeles, she appeared in Bean Cake, a short film which won the Palme d'Or du court métrage at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. She has been quite active as an actress on movies and mostly on stage since her debut. She also has written some lyrics for her mother Seiko Matsuda's songs.

She made her Kōhaku Uta Gassen debut in December 2011 singing "Ue o Muite Arukō" alongside her mother, Seiko Matsuda.

In July 2012 she debuted as a voice actress on TV animation Good Luck Girl!, which led her to be cast as Anna in Japanese version of Frozen.

In April 2014, she formed a duo called TRUSTRICK with a guitarist Billy. They released debut album "Eternity" on June 25.

Sayaka Kanda appeared as a special guest in the Alan Symphony Concert from December 20, 2014 alongside Tibetan Chinese diva Alan Dawa Dolma, and together, they sang a music piece originally performed by Alan titled "風の手紙"/"Kaze no Tegami" (Letter in the Wind).

Ten (Pearl Jam album)

Ten is the debut studio album by the American rock band Pearl Jam, released on August 27, 1991 through Epic Records. Following the disbanding of bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard's previous group Mother Love Bone, the two recruited vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarist Mike McCready, and drummer Dave Krusen to form Pearl Jam in 1990. Most of the songs began as instrumental jams, to which Vedder added lyrics about topics such as depression, homelessness, and abuse.

Ten was not an immediate success, but by late 1992 it had reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The album produced three hit singles: "Alive", "Even Flow", and "Jeremy". While Pearl Jam was accused of jumping on the grunge bandwagon at the time, Ten was instrumental in popularizing alternative rock in the mainstream. In February 2013, the album crossed the 10 million mark in sales and has been certified 13x platinum by the RIAA. It remains Pearl Jam's most commercially successful album.
